Madd Gear Product Designs
Madd Gear keeps their products fresh by developing new products and designs every year, evolving and adapting to the everchanging trends. With decades of experience, they have pinpointed what works with their target demographics.
Out of the many designs and revisions, the designs below were chosen and were released in U.S. stores, such as Madd Gear's online store, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Macy's, and in global stores.
Skateboards
The demographics differ by the type of skateboards. 28" Cruiser and 31" LTR Skateboards are geared towards a younger demographic, hence the multicolored, bright color palettes whereas the 31" Grind and 31" Drop Through Longboard Skateboards are geared more to an older demographic. The graphics are slightly more mature and are not as colorful as the other boards.
The designs were created through compositing various illustrations and textures to create compelling compositions. To elevate these designs, creative solutions were made to enhance the original iterations. Many of the illustrations were in black and white line art. Using gradients and filled in shapes, the illustrations were colored in and made visually interesting to keep the overall composition consistent throughout while adding pops of color. Examples of this would be the skateboard designs, Chrono (Lion) and Slither (Snake).

Scooters
Some skateboard designs were reused for scooters, such as Frenzy (Alien) and Slither/Viper (Snake).

Balance Bikes
My 1st BMX Balance Bikes are training bikes for toddlers to learn balance and coordination. The designs below are the very first designs of the BMX balance bikes, using the old Madd Gear branding while giving the bike a racer-like look. With the success of these BMX style bikes, a new updated version was created using the rebranding.
